Flexible Components with Frame Technology: A Case Study
نویسنده
چکیده
Components are rarely reused “as are”. Most often, we must adapt components’ functions, interfaces and other properties to make them fit into a specific reuse context. Therefore, reusable components must be flexible. This paper is a case study in applying frame technology to inject flexibility into components. During reuse, we can engineer anticipated variant requirements into components by customizing framed components at breakpoints marked with the frame language commands. Framed components can be also extended with new, unexpected requirements that arise during system evolution. Frame technology has achieved excellent productivity improvements in engineering data processing COBOL systems for reuse. In this paper, we show how frame technology and concepts of flexible manufacturing can be effectively applied to component systems written in Java.

متن کاملDynamic Load Carrying Capacity of Mobile-Base Flexible-Link Manipulators: Feedback Linearization Control Approach
This paper focuses on the effects of closed- control on the calculation of the dynamic load carrying capacity (DLCC) for mobile-base flexible-link manipulators. In previously proposed methods in the literature of DLCC calculation in flexible robots, an open-loop control scheme is assumed, whereas in reality, robot control is achieved via closed loop approaches which could render the calculated ...

Response modification factors (R-factor) are used in current seismic building codes to reduce earthquake forces associated with seismic design level to determine force levels. In recent years, many authors have shown great interest in the development of seismic structural systems and several theoretical and experimental studies have been conducted to investigate performance of dampers but littl...
متن کاملPerformance-Based Plastic Design of Moment Frame-Steel Plate Shear Wall as a Dual System
Steel Plate Shear Wall (SPSW) is an emerging seismic load-resistant system that, compared to other systems, enjoys the advantages of stable ductile behavior, fewer detailing requirements, rapid constructability, and economy. American seismic provisions decree that a SPSW should be designed as a moment frame with a web infill plate. Specifically, in case of buildings taller than 160 ft, it decre...
متن کاملDeveloping Reliable yet Flexible Software through If-Then Model Transformation Rules
Developing reliable yet flexible software is a hard problem. Although modeling methods enjoy a lot of advantages, the exclusive use of just one of them, in many cases, may not guarantee the development of reliable and flexible software. Formal modeling methods ensure reliability because they use a rigorous approach to software development. However, lack of knowledge and high cost practically fo...
